Team, did you hear what GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson just said about Democrats’ plan to keep health insurance affordable? He called it “a boondoggle.”

Millions of people could lose the financial help they need to keep their Affordable Care Act policies at the end of the year. Instead of working with Democrats to fix that, Republicans have shut down the government.

Now that’s a boondoggle.

As a child, I was uninsured because of a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. Even after I recovered, my family couldn’t get health insurance for me because of that previous illness. The ACA fixed that, making sure health insurance companies cannot deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions. But it can only help when people can afford to be insured.

I know what it’s like to not have health care coverage. That’s why I’m fighting to make sure Republicans don’t take away yours.

Trump and the Republican Congress don’t want to protect people with pre-existing conditions. They don’t care if you lose your insurance. I do.

That's why I won’t stop fighting for Wisconsinites and all Americans to have affordable health care coverage.
