Hi John,

Hundreds of Indigenous activists just took to the streets of Brasilía in
Brazil earlier this week – right as ministers and negotiators met to
prepare for the biggest climate talks of the year, COP30.^[ [link removed] ]

They sent a clear message to those leading COP: governments may fail, but
people will not.

COP30 will be held on Indigenous land in the Amazon next month. Indigenous
and Traditional Peoples have protected life on Earth for millennia.

That’s why it’s [1]so important that we amplify their demands for real
participation, an end to fossil fuels, and justice.

By sharing on social media, you’re showing that the movement for a safe
and just future stretches across borders. From islands and forests to
cities and homes, we’re united in our hopes for a livable planet.

Indigenous leaders from the Amazon, the Pacific, and Australia have joined
forces in a declaration called United by the Strength of the Earth: The
Answer Is Us.^[2] Together, they’re calling for courage, justice, and real
solutions at COP30:

* Equal voice and power for Indigenous leaders in climate negotiations.
* A fast, fair end to fossil fuels and a global switch to clean energy.
* Direct funding for those protecting the world’s forests, oceans, and
lands.

As the host of COP30, Brazil has the chance to make this conference a
turning point – where words become action, and where Indigenous leadership
is finally heard.

Your voice matters. When people everywhere speak up, leaders feel the
pressure to act.

united for a safe, healthy planet for all.

Together, we are Unidos pela Força da Terra. The Answer is Us.

In solidarity,

Katrina for 350.org
