Email from Rep. Salazar As always it is an honor representing you and your family in Washington, D.C. FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 119, Issue #18 Dear Friends/Amigos, The government shutdown has dragged on for weeks, but I’m still fighting for you. South Florida families deserve stability, not politics as usual. That’s why I’ve voted to keep our government open and urged my colleagues to do the same. My focus remains on what matters most: fixing our broken immigration system, lowering housing costs, and defending freedom at home and across the hemisphere. Despite the shutdown, my offices are open and ready to help with any federal issue. Some agencies may respond slower, but my team and I are still here, working every day for you and your family. Sincerely/Atentamente, María E. Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) The Dignity Act Takes Center Stage at the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference This week, I joined the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., to share how the Dignity Act of 2025 can finally fix our immigration system. Faith leaders across the country are standing with us, united behind a solution that secures our border, strengthens our workforce, and gives long-term immigrants the chance to earn legal status through hard work and accountability. With faith and determination, I believe Congress can deliver immigration reform grounded in security, responsibility, and human dignity. Dignity Act Endorsement Alert! The National Association of Home Builders has officially endorsed the Dignity Act of 2025, calling it “a practical and balanced solution to one of our nation’s most complex challenges.” They praised the bill for pairing strong border security with a fair, responsible path to legal work, recognizing the vital role immigrant labor plays in expanding America’s housing supply. I’m grateful for their support as we continue pushing for real solutions that deliver security, stability, and opportunity. You can read more about the growing list of endorsements (here). Honoring Spanish-Language Media for Hispanic Heritage Month This Hispanic Heritage Month, I introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the vital role of Spanish-language media in strengthening our democracy and connecting communities. As a former journalist, I know how essential these outlets are in keeping millions informed, engaged, and connected to their roots. They provide trusted news on elections, health, and emergencies, helping families fully participate in the American dream.
