It’s been a scary week in Chicago. We’ve seen story after story of federal agents descending on the largest city in our state, people being shot, and immigrants ripped from their communities.
But here’s the thing about Chicago: We don’t back down.
Trump said that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov. JB Pritzker should “be in jail”. Pritzker told him to “come and get me.”
Illinois Democrats are fighting back.
Mayor Johnson issued an executive order barring federal troops from using city property.
Thankfully on Friday morning, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order to block the deployment of federal troops in the city – another blow for Trump and his authoritarian ways.
We applaud all the Illinois Democrats who are holding strong for our values, and not allowing Trump and his MAGA cronies to steamroll us and our city.
