John,
Did you see this:
[ [link removed] ]NBC News: Stakes are high for voting rights as Supreme Court again
tackles Louisiana redistricting dispute.
During oral arguments this week, the Supreme Court’s extreme,
hyper-partisan majority has made clear that they intend to hand Donald
Trump even more power and decimate what’s left of the Voting Rights Act in
order to help Republicans win more elections.
Louisiana Republicans are pushing the Court to ban any consideration of
race when drawing legislative districts. If the Court rules in their
favor, Black and Latino voters could lose the power to elect candidates of
their choice — shrinking representation, silencing voices, and giving
conservatives an unfair advantage.
And this wouldn’t just affect Louisiana. A ruling like this would set a
dangerous nationwide precedent, rolling back decades of progress,
reshaping elections, and potentially tipping the 2026 midterms in favor of
conservatives before a single vote is cast.
Make no mistake: the hyper-partisan justices on the Court are fine making
it harder for people of color to have a voice in our democracy, so long as
Republicans benefit at the ballot box.
Demand Justice is exposing the Supreme Court’s true intentions and calling
for reform. We are shining a light on their efforts to weaken the Voting
Rights Act and rig the system in favor of conservatives — but we can’t do
it without you.
