John, the future of our democracy and our fundamental freedoms increasingly hangs in the balance of state Supreme Courts.
That's why EMILYs List has invested heavily in state Supreme Court races across the country — including in Wisconsin, where we stood up to Elon Musk's billions and helped elect both Justice Janet Protasiewicz and Justice Susan Crawford to build the court's liberal majority.
Now, this November, three justices are up for retention to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and we've endorsed Justice Christine Donohue to continue defending our fundamental rights.
If all three justices who are up for retention lose, their vacant seats would leave the court with a 2-2 partisan split. That means the court, which has made major decisions around Pennsylvania's voting and elections in recent years, would be deadlocked and unable to settle some of the most critical battles for our democracy.
The stakes are high — and Republicans know it too. Pennsylvania's richest man has already poured $1.25 million into this race, which helped fund deeply misleading campaign mailers attacking the justices up for retention.
We need Justice Donohue fighting for justice on Pennsylvania's highest court, but this one is going to be a battle over the next three weeks, and we need to know you're with us.
