Hi friend,
Earlier this year, I told you that while I might not be on the ballot
right now, I won’t be sitting on the sidelines. I’m committed to doing the
work that needs to be done – showing up in communities of all types,
lifting up worthy candidates and causes, and advancing the values that so
many of us share.
In the months since, that’s taken me to communities across the country.
This spring, I was in Iowa, listening to people share what this moment
feels like for veterans and military families: how the decisions coming
out of Washington are shaping their everyday lives, and what kind of
leadership they’re looking for.
Last month, I stood alongside Indiana Democrats to push back against
Donald Trump’s redistricting efforts – a brazen attempt to dictate
election results before the votes are even cast.
And earlier this month, I joined Democrats in Michigan who are working
hard to protect progress and elect strong candidates up and down the
ballot.
Now, I’m heading to Virginia. Abigail Spanberger’s race is one of the
biggest tests since Trump returned to office – and she has a proven track
record exactly the kind of leader and patriot who can show that decency,
service, and results can still win out in America.
When I talk about the work we’re doing through Win the Era, this is what I
mean: supporting candidates who don’t just talk about change, but do the
work to make it real. We are seeking out and supporting leaders who step
forward not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary.
Over the next year, I’ll keep traveling – to states red, blue, and purple
– to support leaders who share our values and to remind people that
politics can still be about solving problems, not exploiting them. In some
places, that will mean helping Democrats hold the line. In others, it will
mean showing up where Democrats don’t often go, because we need to reach
every community.
Of course, I can’t do this work alone. Our work here at Win the Era takes
resources, and it’s driven by grassroots supporters like you.
