Here's today's roundup. | Letitia James Has a Second Criminal Relative Living in Her Other House |
Wednesday’s Morning Note reported on top New York law enforcement officer Letitia James housing her criminal fugitive grand-niece in her Virginia home. It turns out the story was not unique. James’s other grand-niece, a pregnant X-rated OnlyFans star with a previous felony charge of “malicious wounding,” reportedly resides in James’s second property within minutes of the first. Virginia law defines “malicious wounding” as a crime in which a person “shoots, stabs, cuts or wounds any other person, or by any means causes bodily injury, with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill.”
James allegedly arranged the house’s mortgage by claiming it would be her “principal residence” despite her job being 350 miles north. She included Cayla Thompson-Hairston, the criminal grand-niece, in the agreement. Read more.

JB Pritzker Is an Exceptional Gambler |
Donald Trump plays “God Bless the USA” at each of his rallies. When JB Pritzker runs for president, we suspect he’ll go with “The Gambler.”
The Illinois governor released a batch of tax records this week that showed he raked in over $1.4 million at a Las Vegas casino in 2024. The exact games he played are not known.
Gambling in the Prairie State has massively increased under the billionaire’s watch. Pritzker signed legislation to legalize sports betting, add six new casinos, and allow tens of thousands of slot machines in bars and restaurants in 2019. Read more.

DEBATE NIGHT: Zohran Mamdani, Jay Jones Both Take the Stage |
Two of America’s most highly publicized political races held debates last night, one featuring New York’s Zohran Mamdani, and the other Virginia’s Jay Jones.
As he has throughout his campaign, Mamdani centered his focus on economics and the desperate need to make young Americans’ lives more affordable. He largely failed to explain how he would pay for his programs.
No matter how insane the self-described socialist’s ideas are, we can’t help but respect his willingness to debate Andrew Cuomo. He already trounced the former governor in the Democrat primary, meaning he really didn’t have to go through this charade again.
Jay Jones, meanwhile, got ripped for promoting a plan to keep “children safe” despite previously fantasizing about his political opponent’s wife watching her kids die. He apologized for his deranged comments during his debate, saying he is “embarrassed,” “ashamed,” and “sorry.”

|
Democrats are tired of John Fetterman.
Prominent Pennsylvania party members are maneuvering to run against the “progressive” senator in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear their faction apart in America’s largest battleground state.
Fetterman’s willingness to humanize Donald Trump has caused droves of liberals to sour on him since he won office in 2022. They were completely okay sending him to the Senate when he couldn’t talk, but now that he’s not conforming to their rhetoric that the president is America’s Hitler, they say he has to go. Read more.

Minnesota Schools Ban White Students from Taking Classes on “BLACK Culture” and “BLACK Queens” |
White and Asian students hoping to enroll in Minneapolis public high school classes on black culture are out of luck. They are banned from the courses.
South High School’s current curriculum guide explicitly lists multiple “BLACK Culture” classes, including one for “BLACK Queens,” as off-limits to whites. They are only open to “All black male students" and "All black female students," respectively. Other nearby educational institutions offer similar segregated programs.
“It is extremely hard to imagine how this could possibly be legal,” civil rights attorney Dan Morenoff said of the policy.
We’re no lawyers, but we concur. Wasn’t the entire point of the Civil Rights Movement that all Americans should be treated equally, regardless of skin color? Read more.

Netanyahu’s Popularity Increases After Hostage Deal |
Benjamin Netanyahu’s popularity is on the rise.
Israeli media reported the prime minister’s favorability rating at its highest mark since before October 7th on Thursday, projecting that his party would win 34 parliamentary seats if the country held its elections today. The rival party would receive just 20. A separate poll showed Netanyahu with a 58% approval rating, 36% higher than his closest rival’s.
The irony of Bibi’s newfound stardom is that he nearly prevented its existence. This hasn’t been reported much, but the prime minister did not want to agree to the peace deal that sparked his rise in the polls. Donald Trump had to threaten to cut America’s Israel funding to get him on board. Remember that the next time you see Netanyahu disingenuously lauding his “amazing partnership” with the president. The entire thing is a farce. If it were up to Bibi, he’d still be dropping American bombs in Gaza. Read more.

Voting Machine Company Indicted in Bribery Investigation |
Voting machine company Smartmatic is run by crooks, according to federal prosecutors.
The Department of Justice charged the firm with money laundering and other crimes on Thursday, linking the offenses to seven-figure bribes its executives allegedly paid election officials in the Philippines.
Smartmatic made the illegal payments to obtain a contract to help run the 2016 Philippine election, according to the indictment. If true, the company essentially bought its way into the island nation’s political system. Prosecutors also accused a former Smartmatic executive of bribing Venezuela’s election chief by giving her a luxury home in Caracas.
A case hearing is scheduled for next month. Read more. |
John Bolton Charged in Classified Documents Probe |
A federal grand jury indicted former national security adviser John Bolton on Thursday for allegedly mishandling classified documents amid his exit from the first Trump administration.
The indictment charges him with eight counts of transmission of national defense information and 10 counts of retention of national defense information, saying he "abused his position" in the White House by “sharing more than a thousand pages of [secret] information” with unauthorized individuals. It also accuses him of storing classified files in his Maryland home.
“I think he’s a bad guy, yeah, he’s a bad guy. Too bad, but that’s the way it goes,” Donald Trump said of Bolton, who denies any wrongdoing.
The 76-year-old faces a maximum of 10 years in prison on each count. Read more. |
Terrorist Sympathizer? How about Narco-Terrorist Sympathizer? |
If there’s one thing to know about neocons, it’s that they’re always looking for their next war.
Anyone who thought zealots like Lindsey Graham would abandon their bloodthirst after the ink dried on the president’s Middle East peace deal was only kidding themselves. Foreign wars are what these people live for. They’re all they live for. And they appear to have found their next target: Venezuela.
There’s an alarmingly real chance DC war hawks drag our country into a regime change war in the South American nation. Like Vladimir Putin, forces in Washington hate Nicolás Maduro, and they see the deaths of U.S. troops as a small price to pay for his ouster.
How serious is our government about starting this war? We’ll let its behavior speak for itself. America has moved a striking number of military assets into the Caribbean, including four destroyers, a guided missile cruiser, an attack submarine, and a flight of F-35 multirole fighters. The Pentagon has also sent roughly 10,000 troops to the region, a trio of U.S. B-52 Bombers flew into Venezuelan-managed airspace on Wednesday, and the White House has authorized covert CIA operations in the country. If a foreign power did any of those things to us, our leaders would unquestionably see it as a sign of impending war.
Could removing Maduro help the United States? Sure, maybe it would lessen America’s drug crisis. But maybe it wouldn’t, and like any regime change war, there’s always the risk that whoever succeeds the Venezuelan leader could be worse. It’s funny how the people pushing for intervention never seem to mention that possibility. But let’s table that conversation for now. Instead, it’s worth highlighting the ridiculous game this conflict’s backers are playing to coerce the public into backing their dangerous agenda. It goes something like this, following a very similar playbook…
NEOCON: You wholeheartedly endorse sending U.S. troops to die in the name of overthrowing the Venezuelan government, right Mr. and Mrs. America?
AVERAGE AMERICAN: What? I don’t think so. I’m pretty tired of foreign wars. Could Washington focus its resources on our country instead?
NEOCON: Oh. We get it. You’re a Maduro stooge. A narco-terrorist sympathizer. A secret socialist. And above all else, you are deeply unpatriotic. How dare you not support our troops.
AVERAGE AMERICAN: Huh? A narco-terrorist sympathizer? I don’t even know what that means. But I am supporting our troops. I’m the one saying they shouldn’t get their limbs blown off in a new Washington vanity project war.
NEOCON: Let me stop you right there. This conversation is over. I don’t platform narco-terrorist sympathizers. You are what’s wrong with America.
That dialogue is hardly an exaggeration. Glenn Greenwald, one of the most clear-thinking journalists in media, learned the hard way this week when a pro-war activist posing as a reporter scolded him for “[siding] with the narco-terrorists.”
As Glenn said in response, this happens every time America considers hurling itself into some new faraway war. The conflict’s backers exert maximum pressure on the U.S. public to support their cause, then viciously smear those opposed as secret supporters of their enemy. The cycle has repeated itself since the days of the Founding Fathers.
1793. France and England were at war, and many of George Washington’s advisors wanted him to throw Americans into the fray. The president wisely refrained, believing the move would be too much for his new nation to endure and recognizing that the Anglo/French conflict was not related to America’s interests.
For making that decision, the era’s pro-war elite depicted Washington, who had literally just defeated the Red Coats in the Revolutionary War, as a shill for the British crown. We’re not sure if they recognized the irony.
1917. Despite Woodrow Wilson winning the presidency on the platform of not entangling the U.S. in World War I, nearly the entire political world was suddenly clamoring for involvement. But not everyone. Republican lawmaker Robert La Follette served as the Senate’s strongest anti-war voice, arguing that “Collective homicide can not establish human rights. For our country to enter the European war would be treason to humanity."
That didn’t mean La Follette condoned German submarine attacks or any of the rogue nation’s military activities. It meant he didn’t want American blood spilled over matters that lay an ocean away from his country’s shores.
The media immediately attacked the senator as “decidedly pro-German [and] un-American,” “nothing short of pathetic,” and “lending himself to the encouragement of autocracy.” Over 100,000 Americans went on to die in the war he desperately fought to prevent.
2001. Frothing neocons attacked Barbara Lee as a “traitor” to her nation for being the only member of Congress to oppose America’s disastrous Afghanistan invasion. In hindsight, she was the only one who was right.
Then of course there’s today. Think the U.S. should stay away from Ukraine? You’ll be labeled a Putin stooge. Tired of funding and participating in endless conflicts in the Middle East? Pro-Hamas. Antisemite. Wannabe Nazi. “Woke Reich.” And now, if you’d rather not add a new war in Venezuela to America’s already overflowing docket? That’s it. We see what you’re doing. You’re in bed with the narco-terrorists.
Despite being levied for hundreds of years, these attacks fall completely flat. Rejecting the establishment’s perpetual urge to send our soldiers to die in the name of foreign interests does not align you with our country’s enemies. It makes you pro-America. That is true no matter what the bloodthirsty war cult says. Deep down, its members know it.

October 17, 1931: Al Capone is convicted of tax evasion. An Illinois jury found the notorious gangster guilty on 22 criminal charges, yielding him an 11-year prison sentence, a $50,000 fine, and an additional $215,000 charge to cover back taxes. Federal agents targeted Capone with a tax case because of the difficulty of convicting him of more serious offenses like murder and narcotics trafficking. The IRS discovered ledgers detailing the mobster’s illegal earnings during its lengthy investigation, arming prosecutors with strong evidence to pursue their case. Selecting a trial jury took longer than expected due to allegations that the defendant’s men had bribed the original pool. Capone spent eight years behind bars and died in 1947. |
