As I travel across this great Commonwealth talking to Pennsylvanians about why courts and this year’s judicial election matter, I wanted to take a moment to reach out.

With the voter registration deadline in PA coming up on Monday, October 20th, we are preparing to launch NPP’s independent expenditure get-out-the-vote (GOTV) doorknocking and Election Day precinct program that will run from October 22 through November 4th!

Our staff will be knocking on doors across some of our focused regions, from western PA to the Lehigh Valley, throughout the collar counties of Philadelphia, and the capital region. We are up against a well-funded, massive anti-retention campaign, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. If MAGA and the billionaires are successful with their anti-retention campaign against the three PA Supreme Court justices, who were elected as democrats, Pennsylvania could face a judicial crisis.

The court could have three vacancies until/unless the Governor can appoint and the PA Senate confirms interim justices – which is unlikely, as this would require support from Republicans in the PA Senate. This means we could have vacancies on the Supreme Court until the next judicial election in 2027.

With so much at stake this November, I have to reach out to ask for your support to fully fund our GOTV program. Will you pitch in $25 or whatever you can afford to help us reach as many voters as possible and ensure they understand the importance of voting for their values this November?

Thank you so much for your support. It not only means the world to us, but it will go a long way towards helping us protect the future and independence of our state courts.

Donations to the New Pennsylvania Project supports our staff’s community engagement efforts including; organizing and hosting town halls, educational webinars, community conversations, and creating digital content, bi-weekly blasts and social media to reach the communities we engage year-round.

The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
