Dear John,
We are in week three of the GOP shutdown, and House Republicans still refuse to get back to work and reopen the government.
Americans are already seeing their health insurance premiums skyrocket. Some families in Idaho, the first state to begin the open enrollment period, are already seeing their premium costs go from $50 to over $2000. American families cannot afford to pay for the GOP’s inaction.
Yet the Senate GOP still refuses to negotiate with Democrats to extend these subsidies and reopen the government. Speaker Johnson has not called the House of Representatives back to work in almost 4 weeks.
Democrats are fighting to ensure more American families aren’t priced out of their insurance, while the GOP plays politics with their lives.
While the GOP Congressional members sit back and do nothing, they are giving up Congress's constitutional power to decide how the government spends taxpayer money. The Trump Administration is firing thousands of federal workers, eliminating vital departments, and delaying and disrupting services.
Help us fight back and demand an extension of these subsidies so we can keep Americans insured and reopen the government.
