We just got the news about the most recent honeybee count, and the situation is dire. Wild and managed bees are dying at an almost unthinkable rate. Now, our nation’s beekeepers are reporting the highest summer loss rate ever recorded: Between April and October last year, a staggering 32% of colonies were lost. We have to act fast to save the bees.
It’s not just bee populations that are being decimated. 40% of all wild invertebrate pollinators are on the brink of extinction. If we lose our pollinators it could mean ecological collapse on a scale we’ve never seen before.

None of this is happening by accident. Big Agriculture and the fossil fuel industry are knowingly fueling this mass extinction by driving rampant pesticide application, habitat loss, and climate devastation. The Trump administration is adding fuel to the fire, working hand-in-hand with these industries to dismantle environmental regulations while finding new ways to line the pockets of the corporations responsible. To add insult to injury, this administration is now using the coronavirus pandemic as an excuse to roll back even more protections, greenlight more destructive projects, and increase payouts to the mega-corporations fueling these crises.

- Our team is also driving legislation like the Saving America’s Pollinators Act and other bills that will would help save other threatened pollinators like monarch butterflies and help rapidly shift our food system toward people and pollinator friendly ecological agriculture.
