We’re now more than two weeks into this government shutdown, and I’ve got to be honest with you: I’m furious.

People are struggling. They’re confused, anxious, and scared. Families are missing paychecks. Some are worried about losing their coverage. Others are trying to figure out how they’ll afford their prescriptions next week.

As a doctor, I know what’s at stake when people lose access to care - they wait too long to see a doctor and miss catching cancer early when it is more curable, they have to choose between a medication they need and losing their home and savings, and they worry day and night about medical bills.

This is unacceptable.

I first ran for office because I believe everyone deserves access to care — no matter their zip code, their job, or their income. I will do everything in my power to stay in this fight.
