Hi Friend,

We are over 2 weeks into a Republican-created government shutdown. And
instead of being hard at work to save health care for millions of families
and reopening the government, last Friday; Trump proceeded to fire federal
workers across agencies that serve everyday, hardworking people across
this country, including the majority of federal workers supporting
children with disabilities. Moms are calling a TIME-OUT on Republicans.

[ [link removed] ]*SIGN now and tell Republican leaders in Congress: Do your job and
restore health care and reopen the government. *When you click, you’ll
automatically sign on if we already have your information.

Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House. They have
the power to end this shutdown, but instead are pulling political stunts
that are harming families and tearing at the fabric of our democracy.
Republicans passed sweeping legislation that stole health care from 17
million hardworking people while lining the pockets of their billionaire
besties. [1] Republicans in Congress have offered NOT ONE solution to
solve the health care crisis that they created. And in fact, President
Trump has just vowed to make more cuts to “Democrat programs".[ [link removed] ]

[2]*Let’s take stock for a moment: Democrats have brought us Social
Security, Obamacare, Medicaid, Head Start and Medicare. Yet Republicans
are bringing us government shutdowns, #Trumpflation, unpaid air traffic
controllers, rising health care costs, and cuts to the programs that
voters across the political spectrum have long prioritized. *Join us in
telling Republican leaders in Congress to restore health care and reopen
the government!

Right now we are seeing a lot about what Republican leaders WON’T do: They
won’t address the health care crisis they created and allow millions of
families to access affordable health care. They won’t bring the House of
Representatives back into session to do their sworn duties. And while
families are struggling with the increasing costs of food, health care,
child care, and housing, the ONE thing Republicans HAVE done is fire the
very federal workers who protect our health and wellbeing.

That’s not all. The White House for its part is playing political games
and firing over 4,000 federal workers, which will ultimately harm children
and families across the country. [ [link removed] ] Entire departments were emptied
including those who work in the Department of Education’s Offices for
Civil Rights and Special Education, the Administration of Children and
Families’ Office that oversees Preschool Development Grants which support
families’ access to everything from mental health to disability services.
On top of that, Trump went and got a COVID vaccine [ [link removed] ] and then turned
around and gutted the Centers for Disease Control, eliminating experts who
protect the public health of our country. One thing is clear: they are not
governing for us. This is about power.

[3]*We’re calling a time-out on these toxic antics. Republicans in
Congress, take note: Families and the very voters that sent you into
office are calling on you to get it together, get to work, and reopen the
government. *When you click, you’ll automatically sign on if we already
have your information.

Our country is in the midst of a Republican-created health care crisis
that is only getting worse. Republican leaders in Congress have created
this totally manufactured, preventable crisis that hurts our families,
workers (especially military and government workers), veterans, children,
and our economy as a whole. Government shutdowns are a total failure of
governance. Families across the country are starting to receive notices
that their health care premiums are skyrocketing. [ [link removed] ] Instead of doing
what voters sent them to D.C. to do, Republican Speaker Johnson has sent
members of the House back home. You don’t suspend your governing duties if
you are serious about the work of the people.

There's a lot of misinformation about this shutdown, but here is what is
really happening: Trump and Republican leaders in Congress have shut down
the government because Democrats refuse to defund health insurance. In
fact, instead of negotiating with Democrats to fix our growing health care
crisis and to protect life-saving programs, Republicans—who control the
U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and the Oval Office—have shut the government
down. The House isn’t even in session because Republican leaders have sent
those leaders home. We are in the middle of a full-on Republican tantrum
that is hurting families.

To be clear, the situation isn’t good: When Republicans cut $1 trillion
from health care earlier this year, they ripped coverage from over 15
million people and increased health care costs for millions more
Americans. [ [link removed] ] Now, an additional 24 million people who buy health
coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace are at risk of
seeing their health premiums soar by as much as 70% when the enhanced tax
credits expire at the end of 2025 if Republicans keep standing in the way.

[4]*Republican Congressional leaders, you are in a time-out with the moms
and families of America. Reset, deep breath, and get back to the work of
the people: Immediately reopen the government and pass a spending bill
that invests in the things families actually need: health care, food,
child care, and research into life-saving cures. *When you click, you’ll
automatically sign on to our letter that reads:

Dear Members of Congress,

We are over 2 weeks into the shutdown and the American people urge you to
immediately end the government shutdown and pass a spending bill that will
reverse the damage of devastating cuts to health care, lower rising costs,
and save our health care system.

Each day that the shutdown continues, there are severe consequences for
American families of all political backgrounds, as well as for small
businesses, and the economy. The economic ripple effects of the government
shutdown cannot be underestimated. The 2013 shutdown, which lasted 16
days, cost our economy between $2-6 billion in lost output. And the
continued mass firings of dedicated public servants across the federal
government is exacerbating an already dire situation.

America’s families cannot afford this shut down and they cannot afford
budget cuts that severely weaken our public health infrastructure.

Our country is facing an urgent and worsening health care crisis that must
be addressed immediately in the Fiscal Year 2026 spending bill. Already,
as a result of the budget bill earlier this year, $1 trillion was cut from
health care, which will strip coverage from over 15 million people. As a
result, hundreds of hospitals, nursing homes, and community-based health
clinics will close all across the country, including in rural America.
With the ACA enhanced premium tax credits set to expire at the end of the
year, 24 million Americans will soon face skyrocketing health care costs,
with premiums expected to increase by an average of 75 percent. So not
only will millions of people lose their health insurance altogether, but
millions more will be stuck paying sky-high prices to keep their coverage.

We call on Congress to do the right thing for our families by opening the
government immediately and utilizing the legislative process to pass a
funding bill that keeps hospitals open, makes essential health care
affordable and accessible, extends ACA premium tax credits, and fully
funds scientific research and institutions that can protect our health and
save lives.

[5]The more of us that speak up, the louder we are, the more power we
build. Our voices, our stories, and our demands cannot be erased. Thank
you for being in this together.

Together we are a powerful voice for change,
