Shortly after Trump returned to office this year, I started a series exploring the impacts of his policies on the economy. The first installment examined his tariffs and the supply chain, collapsing foreign tourism, the impacts of ham-fisted immigration enforcement on vulnerable industries that depend on immigrant labor, and the impacts on aggregate demand of firing public workers by the tens of thousands.
The second post in the series went on to analyze consumer confidence, asset valuation bubbles in the real estate and housing markets, and several examples of crumbling economic infrastructure, from the U.S. Postal Service and Federal Aviation Administration to Social Security.
