You may not know who I am, and that’s understandable. My name is Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva.

Arizonans elected me to Congress three weeks ago, but Speaker Johnson is refusing to swear me in.

This isn’t normal. The three other representatives elected this year were literally sworn in less than 24 hours after their elections, even when the House wasn’t meeting.

But me? I’m here in Washington, ready to work and ready to add one more crucial vote against Republicans’ slim majority. That’s undoubtedly why Speaker Johnson will not swear me in.

This affront to democracy makes clear how critical it is to elect Democrats to fight back. We need to take back the House, yes, so that Speaker Johnson can’t continue to play these games, but we also need to elect Democratic governors, secretaries of state, and state legislators to protect free, unobstructed elections. And the DNC is doing this work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot, nationwide.

So, I’m asking: Can you split a donation between my campaign and the DNC today to show Republicans that when they toy with our democracy, you — and thousands of other grassroots supporters just like you — will fight back?
