John --

Another week of political brinkmanship has left Washington paralyzed and millions of Americans paying the price!

The government shutdown continues to ripple across the country, from stalled paychecks for federal workers to travel delays, shuttered parks, and suspended community programs. Once again, partisan leaders are using ordinary Americans as leverage in a game of blame and brinkmanship. This isn’t just a budgeting failure, it’s a failure of leadership. It’s what happens when the two major parties care more about scoring points than solving problems.

The Forward Party exists to change that. Our strategy is to build a fulcrum in Congress – a group of independent, forward-aligned lawmakers strong enough to force cooperation instead of chaos.

Imagine if just a dozen principled leaders refused to play shutdown politics and instead demanded compromise and accountability. That’s the future we’re building toward: a government that governs, a democracy that delivers, and a political culture that rewards problem-solving over partisanship. The shutdown is proof of what’s broken. Forward is the proof that it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Forward CEO Lindsey Drath joined MSNBC yesterday on the topic.
