BREAKING NEWS: North Carolina Republicans just released a new gerrymandered map to try to steal seats in the 2026 midterms

Fight back >> [[link removed]]

John,

First Texas. Then Missouri. Now, North Carolina.

North Carolina just released a proposed, even more egregiously gerrymandered map — the latest state to attempt a mid-decade map redraw designed to steal House seats for Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Like Texas and Missouri, North Carolina Republicans are shamefully disenfranchising thousands of their constituents to bow to Donald Trump's scheme to keep his grip on power. This proposed map specifically targets a district where voters of color are currently able to elect a candidate of their choice and be fairly represented – again, just like Texas and Missouri.

Republicans are desperate to avoid the will of the people, because they know their policies are deeply unpopular. They know they have to cheat to win — and so they’re redrawing maps to ensure they can keep a stranglehold on Congress.

North Carolina Republicans have already scheduled a vote early next week to pass their new extreme gerrymander — they’re moving this fast because they know it’s wrong and unpopular. We can’t let them get away with it.

With Trump’s redistricting power grab spreading to more and more states, we must be equipped with the necessary resources to fight back and make clear that voters REJECT this anti-democracy extremism. You might remember that, just a few weeks ago, reports surfaced that Republican Senate Leader Phil Berger was expected to accept an endorsement from Donald Trump in exchange for helping him steal congressional seats. And now? He may be leading this charge.

These craven politicians are selling out the voting rights of millions of North Carolinians, just to hoard their own power. Trump has been on a campaign of bullying and bribing state lawmakers to help him avoid accountability and consolidate his grip on power. Our view? That’s the behavior of an insecure authoritarian — not a democratically elected leader.

Americans are rising up across this country to tell lawmakers to stop abusing their power. The polls are clear: Voters don’t want mid-decade map redraws. In a recent poll, even 78% of Republicans said it’s not acceptable for politicians to draw districts to help their own party win more seats.

We’ve got the people on our side, and we’re organizing to stop this authoritarian power grab in North Carolina — and efforts like it wherever they pop up next. But this fight is escalating fast — and our efforts require a lot of resources to keep pace. Make a donation and help power the NDRC’s critical work in the weeks ahead: [[link removed]]
