How Is The Government Shutdown Impacting Small Businesses?

Dear Texans,

As you may know, a federal government shutdown began on October 1st after funding for the new fiscal year expired. Despite my vote to keep the government open, Senate Democrats blocked a clean continuing resolution. As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I’ve seen firsthand how every day of this shutdown hurts Main Street. The Small Business Administration is unable to issue or approve new loans, process applications, or operate key financial systems — putting small business growth and hiring at risk.

I want to hear directly from you:

Do you believe the government shutdown is harming Main Street America?

Each day this shutdown continues, hundreds of small businesses lose access to critical capital and support. America’s small businesses are the backbone of the economy. They deserve certainty, not theatrical politics. I’ll continue fighting to protect small business owners and ensure their voices are heard in Congress.

Sincerely,

Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25)

Chairman, House Committee on Small Business
