Friends,

I ran for the Senate to open doors for Marylanders: healthcare, affordable homes, jobs, quality education, and more. 

Sadly, the Republican majority has brought that important work — and so much more — to a screeching halt. 

The same politicians who promised to make government more “efficient” have done the exact opposite. Until they finally put the well-being of 330 million Americans before the needs of Donald Trump, the economic and human toll of this shutdown is on their shoulders. 

When that moment comes, I’ll be ready to work. My to-do list is long. 

Until then, I’ll be working to minimize the pain of this shutdown for civil servants, federal workers, and Maryland families. 

This isn’t our first fight to defend our freedom and prosperity from those who want to steal it away, and it won’t be our last. 

There’s a brighter day on the horizon. Let’s march on together, hand in hand.
