John,
The Supreme Court is at it again.
Recently, the Court heard arguments in Bost v. Illinois Board of Elections
— a case about how Illinois counts absentee ballots. Republican Rep.
Michael Bost claims the state breaks federal law by counting mail-in
ballots that arrive up to 14 days after Election Day.
But this case opened the door for far-right justices to say the quiet part
out loud: Justice Sam Alito openly speculated that ordinary, legal mail-in
ballots “hurt Republicans” because… people could vote for Democrats.
Let that sink in: the Supreme Court is treating your vote like a political
weapon. They’re parroting Trump’s favorite conspiracy theories about
mail-in voting — and using the legal system to attack democracy itself.
The facts tell a different story: mail-in voting doesn’t favor Democrats.
Studies show it has virtually no effect, and the majority of Americans
support it. But facts don’t matter to this conservative Court.
This isn’t hypothetical. The Supreme Court is threatening your right to
have your vote counted. But we can fight back. Demand Justice is on the
front lines, challenging attacks on democracy and shining a light on just
how broken this Supreme Court is.
