Rock the Vote

      Dear John,

My name is Teryn Shipman; I am a Southern Black girl representing the state of Georgia in Rock the Vote’s Ambassador program. In 2018 and again last month, my great state of Georgia witnessed voter suppression and oppression in real-time. Wait times up to six hours, the consolidation of polling sites, inadequate staffing and training, faulty machines, and not enough provisional ballots were just some of the roadblocks many Black Georgia voters faced. Black people in America have long been fighting for their right to vote, but are constantly being met with obstacles.

This is why I’m a Rock the Vote Ambassador. Like the Black women who led the Suffragists movement and later led the fight to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965, I know I, too, am one of the lead voices in this movement for voting rights. Thanks to donors like you, Rock the Vote Ambassadors like me can continue to lead the charge in activating their communities and empowering other young people to use the strongest asset they have, their vote.

This month, thanks to the generous support of an anonymous donor, your donation will be doubled. That means chipping in $20 gives Rock the Vote $40 to contribute toward programs like mine.

This year, young people are working harder than ever to make this moment a movement to the polls. We know it takes a lot to make history, but with the help of organizations like Rock the Vote, we know it’s within our reach. Thank you for your continued support.

In power ,
Teryn Shipman
