John,
This week, as a result of Trump’s GOP government shutdown, hundreds of thousands of federal workers missed a paycheck. The Trump administration responded by doubling down on their attacks: laying off federal workers and threatening to withhold back-pay from furloughed workers.[1] At the same time, billionaires are enjoying new tax breaks that will hand them $117 billion next year alone.[2]
These attacks on federal workers are not about reducing costs. They’re about dismantling government services. Public servants were fired from the IRS, the Department of Education, and even health agencies because they were doing their jobs by serving our communities. They were collecting taxes, enforcing rules, and holding the powerful accountable.
Now they’re in food lines. Some are relying on retirement savings to afford basic needs. Others are skipping meals.
That’s why Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund is partnering with The Labor Force to deliver grocery cards directly to impacted federal workers.
Donate today to support laid-off and furloughed federal workers and help us fight back against this authoritarian administration.

This Trump shutdown is part of a larger plan to break public institutions and replace them with privatized, billionaire-controlled systems. With fewer IRS agents, the rich pay less in taxes. With less oversight of housing, landlords get richer. When schools and hospitals suffer, private contractors step in and cash out.
We will not stay silent as Trump attacks federal workers and hands tax breaks to billionaires while dismantling entire government agencies. Every paycheck missed is a policy failure. Every tax break signed into law for the top 1% is an act of theft. Help us stand with workers and take on the billionaires who are buying our government.
Donate now to send grocery cards to federal workers who are not getting paid during Trump’s shutdown.
Thank you for supporting this fight.

[2] Trump Megabill Will Give $117 Billion in Tax Cuts to the Top 1% in 2026. How Much In Your State?
-- David's email --
John,
The Trump administration is handing out new tax breaks to billionaires, even as federal workers are going without pay.
Since Trump and Republicans shut down the government on October 1st, federal workers have either been furloughed, fired, or are working without pay. The people responsible for running Social Security offices, staffing the IRS, and maintaining food safety inspections are now unpaid. Entire departments have been hollowed out. Housing programs, health services, and cybersecurity efforts are grinding to a halt.
While thousands of federal workers are going without pay due to the Trump shutdown, the richest 1% of Americans are set to get an average $30,000 tax cut in 2026 alone.[1] Billionaires who helped fund the 2024 elections stand to gain millions more. This is not a coincidence. It is the result of deliberate choices made to reward political donors at the expense of working people.
In our work to confront this crisis of a rigged tax code, and support public servants who aren’t getting paid, Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund is partnering with The Labor Force to send grocery gift cards to families, so even as this shutdown continues, they can feed their families.
Chip in now to help us deliver grocery cards to federal workers who have missed paychecks and support our campaign to repeal these tax cuts for the rich.
Trump and Congressional Republicans are calling these layoffs “necessary.” But the truth is clear that this shutdown is a strategy to dismantle public services, weaken oversight, and funnel more money to the wealthy.
While families miss rent payments, the richest in the country are celebrating the destruction of our federal government.
This is a calculated attempt to tear down the very structure of public service and replace it with unchecked wealth. When they fire the people who collect taxes from the wealthy, they are making a choice to protect billionaires, not working families.
The government should serve the people who rely on it, not the ones who can buy it. We need immediate relief for workers and bold policy change to reverse these billionaire tax breaks.
Split a donation between Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund and The Labor Force now to support federal workers and fuel the campaign to repeal Trump’s billionaire tax law. Every donation is helping ensure federal workers can continue to put food on the table.
