Penned in by Russian authorities and Ukrainian law, health care professionals in occupied Ukraine face a profound dilemma: defy Ukrainian law and continue to supply medical services to the population of occupied Ukraine or abide by the law, refuse to support the Russian regime, and abandon their professional duties. Trailblazer Award winner


Judy Iles is the winner of the 2025 Trailblazer Award given by the Canadian Science Policy Centre. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated novelty and creativity through leadership, vision, courage, and commitment and have positively and significantly impacted science, technology, innovation and society in Canada. Iles, a professor at the University of British Columbia, was recognized for her work in neuroethics. Read more.
