Dear Friend,
Today is World Food Day, a moment to imagine a future built on better food systems for everyone. But right now, many children are going without the basic nutrition and care they need to survive. The situation is particularly dire in Gaza, where, despite news of a ceasefire, all children under five are still at risk of acute malnutrition.
This past August, famine was officially confirmed in Gaza. To be clear, famine is more than just hunger. It means extreme food insecurity, malnutrition, and related deaths are all happening simultaneously, and that three specific conditions have been met:

Children in Gaza and other conflict zones like Sudan, Yemen and Haiti are starving to death. Why? Because conflict and armed violence are the primary drivers of hunger, disrupting food systems, displacing children and families and obstructing deliveries of food, medicine, safe water and other lifesaving essentials. We refuse to stand by and watch. With your help, UNICEF can deliver lifesaving services to address these devastating conditions wherever children need us most.
