JD Vance defends wildly racist Republican group texts as "boys" just being "edgy"

Sure, the grown-ass men (and women) sending incredibly racist, violent, and deeply disturbing messages in a "Young Republicans" group chat range in age from 24 to 35, but in the eyes of JD Vance, they're just "boys" being "edgy!" In an appearance on right-wing streamer Real America’s Voice on Wednesday, the cosplay hillbilly pushed back against the outrage over the so-called "I love Hitler" group chat Politico exposed Tuesday, which put multiple leaders of Young Republicans groups on blast for reportedly referring to Black people as monkeys and "the watermelon people," for talking about raping and putting their political enemies in gas chambers, and casually praising Adolf Hitler. "Kids do stupid things, especially young boys. They tell edgy, offensive jokes. Like, that's what kids do," Vance said out loud with a straight face. C'mon, what's the big deal?! Why, just look at these youthful misfits! Who among us, right?

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Republicans barrel ahead with dangerous Trump scheme to install permanent majority

Brian Tyler Cohen spoke with North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton about the Republican Party's ongoing assault on representative democracy and their mid-cycle gerrymandering scheme to entrench a permanent GOP House majority to protect Donald Trump and further his atrocious agenda.

Democratic philanthropist launches bid to unseat MAGA extremist and take back the Senate

Hector Mujica for Florida: Hector Mujica, a first-generation American and family man, has spent his career helping others at Google’s philanthropic arm and making sure millions of Americans have a chance to succeed. Now he’s taking on Ashley Moody, Ron DeSantis’ handpicked appointee, in the closest race you’ve never heard of. Moody was appointed to finish out Marco Rubio’s Senate term, which means Florida has never elected her before — and she hasn’t made herself any more popular with her rubber-stamping of Trump’s authoritarian agenda. Will you chip in to help Hector Mujica win this highly flippable seat and help take back the Senate?

Journalists turn in access badges, exit Pentagon rather than agree to new reporting rules
Dozens of reporters — including correspondents from reliably Trump-friendly right-wing outlets Fox News and Newsmax — turned in their access badges en masse and exited the Pentagon on Wednesday rather than agree to Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth's ridiculous, new restrictions on their work, pushing journalists who cover the American military further from the seat of its power. News outlets were nearly unanimous in rejecting the Pentagon's new rules that would leave journalists vulnerable to expulsion if they sought to report on information — classified or otherwise — that had not been personally approved by Hegseth for release.

Trump regime planning to install "allies" at the IRS to target "major Democratic donors," according to Wall Street Journal
It sure feels like he's been back at it for a decade already, but unfortunately Lord Goldemort's retribution campaign is just getting started, folks. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump and his MAGA ghouls at the White House are cooking up plans to install right-wing attack dogs at the Internal Revenue Service to take out "major Democratic donors" who've dared to challenge Donald's authoritarian rule. Citing unnamed sources "familiar with the matter," the Journal reported that the Trump regime has been preparing "sweeping changes" to the IRS which "would allow the agency to pursue criminal inquiries of left-leaning groups more easily." Hey, anyone else remember the Mar-a-Lago gasbag screaming "witch hunt!" several thousand times over the past decade anytime anyone dared to look into his rampant criminality? Yeah, the smeller is almost always the feller.

Eric Trump claims his family is "saving Christianity" and "saving God" for the good of humanity 🙄

The martyrdom is strong with this one, hoo boy. Just so we're clear, according to the MAGA cult leader's third-favorite son, Donald Trump and his irredeemable brood aren't engaged in an historic grift, using the White House and the federal government to enrich themselves and their crooked buddies by the billions. Oh, no! They are fearless warriors who've answered a higher calling to save the United States of America in a downright biblical battle between good and evil! During a softball appearance on racist, right-wing gutter rat Benny Johnson's show to promote his stupid new book, "Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation," Eric looked dead-eyed into the camera and claimed that his family is literally saving America from ruin. "And look how much better humanity and our world is. You know, we're saving Christianity. We're saving God. We're saving the family unit. We are saving this nation." He wasn't finished with the ridiculous myth-making. "I mean, you know, DEI is out the window, Benny. You know, I mean, you no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead... And yet, what do we have? We have a return to people going to church... It’s a beautiful time. And [Donald Trump] will go to heaven for all of that. God absolutely guided this journey in ways that, you know, you'll learn in 'Under Siege.'" It always ends with a sales pitch, doesn't it?

Trump confirms the CIA is conducting covert operations inside Venezuela
Oh, good. We've apparently learned nothing from the CIA's eight-decades-and-counting folly of waging covert war and destabilizing regime-change operations in places we definitely don't belong. Donald "America First!" Trump personally confirmed yesterday that he authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela and said he was weighing carrying out land operations against the nation of 28 million. What happened to "no more wars!" Donnie?? Why are we still meddling in the affairs of sovereign South American countries? Multi-billion-dollar bailouts for autocratic bums? Extrajudicial killings on the high seas? Covert CIA operations? Sure has a familiar neocon ring to it, eh?

Trump and Republicans FREAK OUT over October 18th “No Kings” rallies!

No Kings: Congressional Republicans and the right-wing propaganda machine are having a full-blown meltdown over the planned “No Kings” rallies this Saturday, in which millions upon millions of Americans will take to the streets in every state to protest the Trump team’s efforts to dismantle our democracy and make Donald a dictator. Republicans are working overtime to smear the protesters, because they know that their lies fall apart when people see a nation united in its devotion to the democratic ideals of the American republic and opposed to Trump’s authoritarian agenda. Click here to find a rally near you, put on yellow clothing, and do your part to remind the world that America has NO KINGS!

Capitol Police called to investigate swastika flag in GOP congressional office

Republican Ohio Rep. Dave Taylor’s legislative correspondent, Angelo Elia, joined a Zoom call this week with an incredibly curious, uh, bauble on the wall behind him that raised the eyebrows of at least one call participant. Pinned to a cubicle board in plain sight was an American flag — with not-so-subtly altered red and white stripes in the shape of a frickin' swastika. Taylor claimed it was a case of "foul play" and said he asked the Capitol Police to investigate. Elia has thus far declined to comment. Are we supposed to believe that Nazi goblins snuck into Elia's office, hung a swastika flag on his wall, and he simply did not notice? Or is Elia yet another young Republican staffer with an unrepentant fondness for Hitler? It's a real mystery.

House Democrats demand Mike Johnson swear in Adelita Grijalva in Capitol protest
Congressional Democrats staged a protest inside the halls of the US Capitol Building on Tuesday demanding that House Speaker Mike Johnson swear in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva of Tucson, Arizona. Grijalva would be the 218th and final signature on a bipartisan discharge petition to go around Johnson and force a floor vote in the House on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files, but surely that has nothing to do with Johnson's blatant, undemocratic, spineless stonewalling, right? Johnson has delayed swearing in Grijalva for weeks despite her clear 40-point victory in the Arizona 7th Congressional District special election in September. Johnson’s original excuse was that he was waiting for the results of her election to be officially certified, despite swearing in multiple new members of Congress almost immediately as their races were called and not waiting for certification. Now that excuse has worn out as Arizona officially certified Grijalva’s victory this week. However, Johnson continues his refusal to seat her, claiming he is waiting for the end of the government shutdown and for Congress to return to session. This is completely arbitrary. The speaker does not need the chamber in session to swear in a new member. In theory her vote could be necessary to end the shutdown. For a pious, God-fearing Christian man, Mike Johnson sure is comfortable lying his ass off.

Judge pauses shutdown layoffs at more than 30 federal agencies
With the federal government shutdown now entering its third week, a federal judge in San Francisco temporarily halted the latest wave of layoffs by the Trump regime. In a hearing on Wednesday, US District Judge Susan Illston said she believed the plaintiffs in the case are likely to prove that what the administration has done — using the lapse in government spending to implement layoffs — is "both illegal and in excess of authority and is arbitrary and capricious." The lawsuit was brought by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), which together represent more than 800,000 federal workers.

Bernie Sanders and AOC make the case for Democrats in rousing town hall performance
AOC and Bernie proved once again they are progressives' most effective messengers with a passionate town hall that both extended the olive branch to Republican voters while hammering GOP politicians and debunking their lies about Democrats. "I think it also speaks to a big difference between someone like Trump and someone like me or someone like Bernie, which is that Trump believes that if you don't vote for him, he doesn't have to be your leader. That if you didn't vote for him, that you don't deserve good things to happen to you. I don't care if someone voted for me or not," said Ocasio-Cortez. "I don't care if someone is a Republican or an Independent or a Democrat. I don't care if someone likes me or not. That will never change the fact that I'm going to fight for them to have healthcare. I want MAGA to have healthcare. I want MAGA to be paid a living wage. But he doesn't want people who are Democrats or he doesn't want people, based on their political affiliation, to benefit. And that is the difference between a strongman and an authoritarian and a leader of a democracy." Hear, hear!
