Team, in this moment of deeply alarming attacks on our constitutional rights, immigrant neighbors, and loved ones, we, the people, are ready to show up for our communities.

From mass raids and abductions without due process, to wrongful detention without warrants and armed agents deployed in our cities, we're horrified by what we're witnessing unfold across the country. We know that the only antidote to these threats we're facing is community.

That’s why United We Dream, the ACLU, and our partners are joining forces to launch the Defending Our Neighbors Fund, hosted by Abundant Futures Fund, a fiscally sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, with a goal of raising $30 million to ensure our immigrant neighbors have fair and immediate access to legal support and do not have to face an unjust, punishing immigration system on their own.

With $10 million already raised, this fund is rushing resources to frontline organizations providing legal support to the people and families who power our country as they face existential threats against their dignity, safety, and lives.

The Defending Our Neighbors Fund is about justice. Together, we can protect and defend our neighbors, keep families together, and ensure no immigrant families are forced to navigate a complex and punishing system alone.

POWER COMMUNITY CARE

The need for legal counsel is skyrocketing, as tens of thousands of immigrant families are targeted and torn apart. Access to fair, affordable legal representation is limited, and bail bonds are expensive, but when a loved one is separated and wrongfully detained, legal support can become a family’s most urgent need.

By scaling up financial support to organizations already working to connect our immigrant neighbors to lawyers, the Defending Our Neighbors Fund is helping make sure more people have access to legal representation quickly. We know that access to a lawyer can be the difference between whether a family stays together or is separated indefinitely. The Defending Our Neighbors Fund supports organizations who provide legal representation and other forms of legal assistance, such as paying immigration bonds when possible, and expands capacity for frontline advocates — ensuring no one faces this system alone.
