President Trump has described me and other Democratic officials as “the enemy within.”
He is using the Justice Department to go after his political enemies — like James Comey and Letitia James — and protect his friends — like Tom Homan, the border czar, who reportedly took $50,000 in cash from undercover FBI agents (the case against him was dropped).
It is a clear and dangerous abuse of presidential power.
The Justice Department should not be used to punish people for expressing views or doing their jobs or holding the president accountable.
At the same time, this administration is going after late-night comedians, telling corporations who they can hire, and telling law firms who they can represent.
It’s all part of the same attack on our democracy – and if Republicans let this go on, there will be nothing left of our democracy after four years.
