Fifteen years ago, one video launched a movement. Today, It Gets Better has grown into a global force mentoring tomorrow’s leaders and reaching LGBTQ+ youth before they’re in crisis.

This month, we’re marking the milestone the best way we know how: with a quinceañera celebration in The Sims, reimagined through queer joy and gaming culture.

Join us on Wednesday, October 22 at 5:30 pm ET / 2:30 pm PT for a live Twitch stream co-hosted by It Gets Better and It Gets Better México. Queer creators and our Youth Voices ambassadors will design their celebratory spaces in The Sims while sharing stories about identity, growth, and what it means to come of age on your own terms. 

This event continues our long, meaningful partnership with The Sims, a team that’s consistently championed inclusion in gaming. Together, we’ve brought in-game Pride shirts, gender-neutral bathroom builds, and customizable pronouns to millions of players exploring self-expression in The Sims 4. The Sims has also made a financial contribution to It Gets Better in support of our anniversary. 

And this celebration is just the beginning. Keep an eye out for more anniversary streams and activations between now and the end of the year as we continue to mark 15 years of It Gets Better.
