Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments on Louisiana v. Callais, a case that would undo the remaining sections of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965.
In the 12 years since the Supreme Court first gutted the Voting Rights Act, Republican legislatures have put in place voting restrictions that undermine the key tenets of our democracy and target voters of color.
What remains of the Voting Rights Act are provisions that empower citizens to challenge racially discriminatory gerrymandering and attempts to dilute the voting power of Black and Latino voters.
Trump’s DOJ, turning its back on decades of precedent, asked the Supreme Court to gut this statute, essentially rendering the Voting Rights Act defunct.
This Supreme Court case goes hand in hand with the plot by Trump and Republicans to rig congressional maps in states like Texas and Missouri and curtail the electoral power of communities of color.
This is the president and the Republican Party Jack Ciattarelli proudly stands with. And this campaign cycle, Jack’s shown he also doesn’t care about voters of color.
When asked how important he thought Black and Latino voters are to winning his campaign, Jack responded “Okay, next question?”
On November 4, we must use the power we still have to send a message to Trump and those that want to dismiss, undermine, and quiet the voices of Americans. We do that by electing Mikie Sherrill, Dr. Dale Caldwell, and Democrats up and down the ballot that will stand up for our voting rights and listen to our concerns.

Jack made millions publishing the opioid companies' misinformation, fanning the flames of the epidemic even after the devastating effects had been made public. Jack got rich. New Jerseyans died. We’ve collected the Ciattarelli Files. See for yourself here.
