This year, the House GOP passed a mass voter suppression bill — the so-called SAVE Act — that could disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans through a modern-day poll tax.

And that’s on top of a wave of anti-voter legislation at the state level. From the first half of 2024 to the first half of 2025, the Voting Rights Lab tracked a 50% rise in new state laws restricting access to voting.
