Team, 2025 has been an extraordinarily hard year.
Between the costliest wildfires in California's history, ICE raids across the state, massive federal funding cuts, economic pressures made worse by tariffs, and the President's attempt to dismantle democracy, we were dealt rough cards this year.
But despite all of the challenges, California was able to pull through on some major victories. This past month, Governor Newsom signed and vetoed the final new laws for 2025, including laws that advance electricity reliability and affordability, uphold local air quality protections, and protect endangered species.
We need to keep this momentum going and start the new year strong with progressive environmental policies! Friend, take one minute to let us know YOUR top environmental priorities for next year: |
All in all, eleven of EnviroVoters' priority bills had good outcomes this year that will go on to protect our environment, health, and economy. Bills on pollution, corporate accountability, affordability, electricity, and conservation were all signed into law. (Click here for the full list of bills and what they do for Californians.)
Despite tough conditions, California made important progress this year. But the reality is, there's still a lot more to be done if we want to create a healthy and sustainable California for all.
Next year, California lawmakers need to come back stronger than ever to close the gaps. California needs to accelerate the equitable transition to electric vehicles, reducing our dependence on polluting fossil fuels. 2026 is our chance to make polluters pay for the climate crisis they knowingly caused, from insurance affordability to climate-driven disasters.
Friend, take a moment to pat yourself on the back—your actions made a huge difference in this year's fight. Because you supported EnviroVoters' work with donations, emails to representatives, petitions, and community outreach, our team was able to secure critical victories in one of the toughest political climates we've ever faced.
While the legislative cycle for 2025 is done, advocating for climate progress is a year-round effort. Fill out our one-minute survey and tell us what priorities lawmakers should focus on next year to step up as the bold, progressive leaders California deserves.
Thank you for your continued support and for making victories like these possible.
