Running for Congress wasn’t an easy decision, team.

I came from working class roots. I lived a life of service to our country — from enlisting in the National Guard to serving active duty in the Army after September 11th in Iraq and Afghanistan. I never imagined running for Congress.

But I have always gone where the fight is — and in 2017, the most important fight was right here in Colorado. Just a few months into his first term as president, Donald Trump tried to rip away health care, and rammed through tax breaks for the wealthy and his big donors. Does any of that sound familiar?

And in the middle of all that, our representative refused to stand up. Coloradans deserved better leadership. So I launched my campaign on April 11, 2017. Together, we flipped a red seat blue for the first time in decades.

They say history repeats itself, and here we are: Donald Trump is president once again.

He acts like a king and believes he’s above the law. He uses his presidency to enrich himself and his ultra-wealthy allies. And he’s doing it all on the backs of working people.

Like I said, I’ve never been one to back down from a tough fight.

What we’re seeing right now is not real leadership. I’m ready to fight harder than ever to deliver leadership that serves and listens, and I will work toward a better future for us all. If you’re with me, will you chip in toward my mid-October fundraising goal tonight?
