We’ve always known this would be a tough fight, and last night it became clear that we came up short.
Josh Gottheimer will be our Democratic nominee, and I intend to vote for him and Democrats up and down the ballot in November. Trump and the GOP must be defeated.
This fight is more important than ever—we’ve seen time and time again the damage done to immigrants, women, and people of color when our party is undermined by conservative forces.
That’s why we must elect real Democrats who go to battle for working families rather than the machine.
Our campaign flourished despite everything the establishment threw at us. We mobilized over 1,100 volunteers, raised more from small dollar donors than all other candidates from both parties in NJ-5 combined, and earned the support of an incredible local and national coalition.
My parents could never have dreamed that their daughter—who immigrated to the US at 11—would become a neuroscientist, Glen Rock council member, and candidate for Congress.
I have no words for the gratitude I feel for everyone who helped me get here.
It is because of all of you I decided to step up and run, and it is because of you I am not going anywhere. The work continues.
