As always, I hope you find the information below useful. | Important Updates/Highlights | HB 664 Passes the PA House | I’m pleased to announce that my Road Salt Management bill co-authored with Rep. Ben Sanchez passed the Pennsylvania House last week with a 104-99 vote. Too often road salt is found in our waterways, impacting drinking water from wells and wildlife and fish throughout our commonwealth. HB 664 directs PennDOT and the Department of Environmental Protection to collaborate and develop the best management practices for the use and reduction of salt to treat our roadways. The bill now heads over to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration. | Inclusive Post-High School Resource Fair | Save the date, neighbors! My FREE Inclusive Post-High School Resource Fair with The Arc Alliance and a team of local volunteers is on Sunday, January 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Hall A of the Greater Philadelphia Expo in Oaks! We are currently seeking vendors for this event and interested parties can apply here. Ideal vendors currently serve high school students with IEPs and 504 plans and offer post‑secondary opportunities such as employment, internships, apprenticeships, transitional services, continuing education, or supported living programs. A comprehensive list can be found below. - Post-Secondary Education: Institutes that offer Higher Education programs for IDD/A
- Inclusive Employment: Employers championing IDD/A hiring practices
- Supported Employment: Organizations that provide job coaching, job finding, and job skill development
- Transition & Life Skills: Programs developing social, independent living, and vocational skills

PennDOT has announced the following road work in our area: Tuesday, October 7, through Tuesday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a lane closure will be in place Mondays through Thursdays on eastbound U.S. 422 between Trappe/Royersford and Oaks/Audubon interchanges in Upper Providence and Limerick townships. Friday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a lane closure will be in place on the Route 29 (Collegeville Road) eastbound off ramp at the Route 29/U.S. 422 interchange in Upper Providence Township. Sunday, October 19, through Saturday, October 25, Route 73 (Skippack Pike) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between North Wales Road and Mara Drive in North Wales Borough. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike), Morris Road, and Bethel Road. Monday, October 20, through Thursday, October 23, Main Street will be closed and detoured 24/7 between First Avenue and Second Avenue in Royersford Borough. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Main Street, Bridge Street, Route 724 (Schuylkill Road), Linfield Road, and Lewis Road. Drivers are advised to plan accordingly and practice safe driving habits while crews are at work. | Construction at Crawford Rd/Eagleville Rd/Park Ave Intersection | After receiving questions about the construction at the intersection of Crawford Rd/Eagleville Road/Park Avenue in Lower Providence, I have a timeline update. Currently, water relocation will begin in November/December, then sanitary sewer relocation in January/February and road construction in March/April. Lane restrictions may take place during this time period, but detours are not expected during the utility work. As always, please remain vigilant when crews begin working for your safety as well as for the safety of the road workers. | Montgomery County Resource Expo | From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight, the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit will be hosting the Montgomery County Resource Expo at 2 W. Lafayette Street, Norristown, PA. This event will have a range of resources and services to support individuals with disabilities and their families, including postsecondary opportunities, advocacy support, mental health services, transportation and more. You can register by visiting this link: learn.mciu.org/mcre25 | The Other Heroes: Those Who Love a First Responder | Join the Collegeville Fire Company this Sunday, October 19, as they host The Other Heroes: Those Who Love a First Responder for the first responder community and their loved ones. This event will cover coping mechanisms, managing the impact of trauma, how to access support systems, the impact of the job for first responders and their families and more. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Collegeville Fire House (29 East 5th Avenue, Collegeville, PA).
