This year’s vote comes during a truly challenging moment for our movement. The Trump Administration has put the drug war playbook at the heart of their policy agenda. They’re doubling down on violence and punishing people in the name of the drug war instead of putting people’s health and safety first.
We all know the drug war is a failure: drugs are cheaper, more available, and more potent. Overdose deaths have reached record highs. Meanwhile, as the federal government escalates violence with other countries, here at home they have gutted Medicaid—the largest funder of addiction treatment. And as long as politicians focus on punishment instead of reducing demand and increasing access to care, the harm will continue.
Right now, it’s so important that this movement sticks together. We’ve faced setbacks before. With the support of members like you by our side, we’ve overcome them time and time again by being courageous and insisting on what actually saves lives. That means fully funded health services, accessible treatment, and overdose prevention strategies that every community can count on.
I’m asking you to vote for your Member Card design because this is your movement to end the drug war. When you carry your card, I want you to remember what it means. So please: vote today and help us finalize the design.
