Dear friend,

In these dark and dangerous time, we draw hope from the courageous actions of so many, especially young people. From working to keep families together to practicing life-saving mutual aid to protesting war, violence, climate chaos and attacks on workers and communities, there is a multi-generational non-violent movement for change rising up across the nation.

To assist, we are building a scalable, durable, and grounded network of young organizers committed to resisting authoritarianism and organizing for racial, climate, gender and economic justice and peace.

We are calling young people ready for change! Applications now open for the Young Organizers Survival Corps, a 7-month experience connecting young people who are hungry to get organized for the long haul with other activists, organizers, non-cooperators and community leaders.

Help us to spread the word to any and all young people ready to start organizing in the community or deepen their commitment and connection to the work they're already doing.

Guided by history. Anchored in community. Sustained by culture. Powered by faith.

In this letter
* Apply–The Young Organizers Survival Corps.
* Mobilize–No Kings 2 coming this Saturday to a town near you
* Tune in–Severed is coming to Freedom Church of the Poor
* Register–Assembly 2026 with United Women in Faith

In solidarity,

The Kairos Team

** The Young Organizers Survival Corps!
------------------------------------------------------------

The Kairos Center is thrilled to announce the Young Organizers Survival Corps. The Young Organizers Survival Corps is a 7-month experience connecting you with fellow activists, organizers, and young people who are hungry to get organized for the long haul and resist authoritarianism.

The Young Organizers Survival Corps brings together student organizers across the country to:
* Master the skills: nonviolent direct action, base-building, strategic campaigns
* Learn from the lineage: homeless unions, farm and domestic workers, welfare rights, student movements, today's encampments
* Build local power while preparing for national mobilizations
* Organize with the Johnnie Tillmon model - led by those most impacted, independent from politicians
* Practice hands-on skills in art, culture, and ritual with leading cultural organizers

From housing justice to immigrant defense to campus organizing - if you're ready to build power where you are and move when we need to, apply.

Not a fellowship. Not a conference. An organizing school.

** No Kings 2 with Resources
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

Millions of Americans at thousands of events will take to the streets this Saturday, October 18th, to declare that the United States recognizes No King. As the federal government consolidates power into the executive branch, the Trump administration wields that power to harm our families, neighbors, and communities with impunity. This week, at thousands of sites around the world, we declare that it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Kairos Center offers two cultural resources tailored to the No Kings protests. First, is our songbook full of movement songs relevant to the message of the march. Second, is the faith study guide with litanies and prayers for this moment.

** Screen Severed with Freedom Church of the Poor
------------------------------------------------------------

Oct. 22nd @ 6pm join Freedom Church for a virtual screening and discussion of Severed (2025) led by Shun Tucker-Allen and Dom Kelly of New Disabled South. Severed is a powerful new short documentary that follows Mohamad Saleh, a teenager from Gaza who lost his leg at 12 and survived five Israeli military assaults. In those attacks, he lost his home, close family members, and best friends. His story is both deeply personal and emblematic of the thousands of Palestinians disabled by Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. The event will take place during Bible Study.
