“ . . . You have to wait sometimes for something to happen ,” said a representative of the NC Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division in reference to protecting workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.*

This statement is a disgrace and a slap in the face to working families. We should not have to wait for workers to get sick or die before taking steps to ensure their safety. The health and well being of our workers are not a casual cost of doing business during COVID-19 or otherwise.

It’s a shame that workers have to choose between risking their lives and the health of their families or making ends meet, and far too often for poverty wages. I’m fired up and outright ashamed of the Department of Labor’s blatant disregard for our workers.
