Dear Friends,
The Trump administration’s decision to freeze $1.9 billion in federal funding that was secured for the Chicago Transit Authority’s Red Line Extension project threatens to withhold 25,000 jobs and vital economic opportunities. This delay puts at risk the transit needs of over 175,000 daily riders and stalls a decades-long effort to improve transportation access in underserved neighborhoods.
Restoring this funding is essential to moving forward with a project that will bring lasting benefits for South Side residents. No matter their zip code, all Chicagoans deserve reliable and accessible public transit.
