John,
The Trump Department of Justice is demanding that Minnesota hand over private data on millions of voters, including Social Security and driver’s license information.
This is not normal. And it is not legal.
I will follow the law. I will not bend.
I will not turn over your private data.
And I will not allow a federal power grab to jeopardize the integrity of our elections.
We’re in a fight for the rule of law and the privacy of every Minnesota voter. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help us defend democracy and fight back?

The DOJ claims they need this information to “police” whether states are cleaning up voter rolls. That claim is false and has no credible legal basis.
My office has already explained, in painstaking detail, the rigorous checks we use to ensure Minnesota’s voter rolls are accurate and secure.
But instead of answering our questions — or following the law — the DOJ has chosen to sue me (and seven other Secretaries of State from both parties).
This job has never been about politics for me. It’s about protecting Minnesotans — your right to vote, your data, and your trust in our democracy. Please help me continue to do that by chipping in $5 or more this week.
Thank you,
Steve
