John,
Election Day 2025 is right around the corner, and the outcomes of these races will set the stage for the 2026 midterms and beyond.
Less than three weeks from now, voters will head to the polls to cast their ballots in monumental governor, state legislature, and state Supreme Court races.
EMILYs List has endorsed Democratic women running in all of these races, and our victories would put the writing on the wall for Republicans and show them that women are not just running this cycle, they're winning.
Before I tell you more about these races, will you chip in now to help EMILYs List women win big next month?
Here's what you need to know about next month's elections:
📍 What's at stake:
- Key governorships in New Jersey and Virginia, where we have an opportunity to hold a blue seat and flip a red one.
- State legislatures that have stood as the last line of defense, like in Virginia, where we've endorsed 10 women running for the state House.
- A State Supreme Court seat in Pennsylvania, where key rulings on abortion access and voting rights have been decided, and we've endorsed Justice Christine Donohue.
🎯 What to watch for:
- Flip opportunities are real — and razor-thin. In Virginia, Democrats currently control both chambers by the slimmest of margins. Republicans need to pick up just a few seats to flip control.
- Close races could be decided by just a few hundred votes — which means we can't afford to leave a single voter on the sidelines.
🚨 Why it matters:
- Under the Trump administration, we've seen how much power states hold in protecting or dismantling our fundamental freedoms. Democratic governors and state legislatures have shielded millions from national rollbacks on our rights.
- The outcomes of these elections will set the stage for 2026. The results of these races will determine who has the upper-hand going into the midterm elections
