Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,
Our public lands continue to be threatened by Trump’s congressional Republican allies who want to give them away to corporate polluters.
This past week, Congress took dangerous steps toward rolling back important blueprints for how our public lands in Alaska’s Central Yukon and in eastern Montana are protected, what they’re used for, and who gets to use them.
Congress’s move has set an alarming precedent — now the fight moves to Alaska’s Western Arctic where the blueprint for that region is on the Senate’s chopping block, jeopardizing protections that nearly 150,000 supporters like you helped us win last year.
Tell your U.S. senators to oppose the resolution that would roll back Western Arctic protections.
If these resolutions are signed into law, it will essentially void vital future plans and threaten all our public lands. It would also undermine a foundationally democratic and public process — these science-based blueprints are carefully created through years of public input, environmental review, and stakeholder collaboration.
It’s no surprise that our nation’s most intact landscape is among the first targets — this is just the latest in aiding a massive public lands giveaway to oil giants who are creating hubs for fossil fuel development in the Western Arctic.
And our Arctic ecosystem and the life it supports pay the price. Caribou, grizzly and polar bears, rare birds, and other wildlife species rely on these lands for survival.
More oil drilling will lock us into more fossil fuel addiction in a region that is warming more than four times faster than the rest of the world — stopping drilling here is a crucial step to avert climate catastrophe.
Urge your senators to safeguard the Western Arctic before it’s too late.
The NRDC Action Fund is fighting in Congress to block these legislative attacks on public lands and fundamental Arctic protections.
In the meantime, we need you to help create a massive public outcry in defense of the Western Arctic that can’t be ignored.
Our public lands are for all of us, not for corporate polluters.
Contact your senators NOW to keep the Western Arctic protected.
Sincerely,
Bobby McEnaney
