On September 19, a Proclamation issued by President Trump instituted a $100,000 fee for newly issued H-1B visas. The H-1B visa program, which imports “skilled” labor into America and allows its recipients to immigrate permanently, is beloved by the anti-borders lobby who opposes any effort to stop its misuse. Medical industry lobbyists are urging the Trump administration to exempt healthcare personnel from the H-1B fee.

Governor Reynolds Signs E-Verify Executive Order in Iowa ([link removed])
On October 8, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed an executive order requiring each state agency in the executive branch and the Board of Regents to use E-Verify to ensure all new employees are authorized to work in the United States. The order also compels state agencies to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program to confirm citizenship and immigration status prior to granting an individual a state-issued occupational or professional license.
