With the race for Massachusetts Senate now underway, we are asking you to become a Founding Donor to Ed Markey’s campaign for reelection today. Please, let us explain why.

I’m reaching out today as Ed’s Campaign Manager because, while our opponent has chosen to launch a political campaign during a government shutdown, Ed is in Washington doing his job — voting against Trump’s extremist agenda and working to stop the MAGA attacks on health care so that we can reopen the government.

At a moment when our country needs leadership, Ed Markey is showing up and doing the work. That’s the difference between political ambition and public service.

Throughout his career, Ed has led the way on the issues we care about, from lowering the cost of health care, to tackling the climate crisis with bold action, to protecting the LGBTQ community from ongoing attacks, and much more. Now, with Donald Trump taking a wrecking ball to the rule of law and the Constitution, we need more progressive leaders like Ed in the Senate fighting for the American people, not less.

But with a challenger entering this race, it’s now guaranteed that we are going to have to take time and resources away from our efforts to organize against Trump’s far-right agenda so we can run a winning primary campaign.

We have been down this road before, Mohammad, and there’s no doubt that we won our race in 2020 by running one of the biggest and strongest grassroots campaigns that Massachusetts has ever seen. Now it’s time to replicate that success so Ed Markey can continue to fight on behalf of the people.
