Here’s what we’re hearing:
As an MD, the patients in our clinics are already struggling to afford health care. The GOP bills will make it impossible for many. I live in a rural area, and funding losses will affect staffing that is already strained. Will the hospital that serves close to 50,000 people have to close? Who takes care of my patients when we already have a physician shortage? Pls keep the pressure on.

I am traveling and am very worried about the scarcity of air traffic controllers. People are hurting, and they are scared.
– Lisa, Silverdale
I had an appointment for a virtual doctor's appointment, and the night before it was supposed to happen, I got a call saying I had to come in in person because the teleappointments had not been funded by Medicare. Old people, like me, need that service. Especially in rural areas.
– Susan, Gig Harbor
I have a family member who works for NOAA. They are essential workers because the fish at their research lab will die without their constant care. They are studying one of our area's last commercial saltwater fish species, which is critical to our profitable fishing industry. But they won't be doing it for long if the government doesn't continue to support the research.

Due to glitches in the IRS software, I have had difficulty getting registrations for IRA tax credits for solar panels that our church installed on two low-income rental units. It looked like I would receive the registrations soon. But then, progress has stopped because of the shutdown. I need the registrations to meet our extended filing deadline in November, and time is running short.

My household is a family with government income, and now we are working without pay. Prices have gone so high that we are cutting back on food purchases and any trip that costs gas money.
– Jerry, Poulsbo
My daughter-in-law works for the Olympic National Forest, and she doesn't know if she has a job or not!
– Holly, Port Ludlow
We are retired, and our two forty-something kids have moved back in with us due to no jobs, pricey housing, and student loans. They both have health coverage from Obamacare and will not be able to afford the anticipated increase in cost. It will fall to us, on Social Security, to make up the difference.
– Karen, Sequim
I am retired from the U.S. Public Health Service and will not receive my pension check until the government is refunded. I also have my medical insurance deducted from my pension check, and this won’t happen when I don’t receive a check.
– Stephanie, Poulsbo
Emily is fighting for a deal that reopens the government and stops health insurance premiums from skyrocketing.
