National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day — Ending HIV Stigma Together
Hi everyone,
Today is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day! This day was created to recognize and address the impact that HIV stigma and discrimination have on Latinx communities. We are reminded that when one of our communities is adversely impacted, we all have a part to play in finding the solution.
Latinx communities, especially Black and Brown queer and trans youth, continue to be deeply impacted by HIV, yet remain underrepresented in care and decision-making spaces. That’s why we organize, speak out, and support one another to ensure our communities have access to culturally competent HIV prevention, testing, and treatment options.
Here are some resources to stay informed, take care your health and fight stigma:
1. PrEP Locator — Find free and low-cost PrEP services near you.
2. TakeMeHome — Order a free HIV self-test kit delivered to your home (available in many states).
3. Free HIV Test — Search for local testing and prevention services by zip code.
4. Positively Trans / Transgender Law Center — Support, advocacy, and resources for trans people living with HIV.
5. The Well Project — Health and wellness information by and for women living with HIV, including Latinx and trans women.
6. TransLatin@ Coalition — Supports transgender, gender-nonconforming, and Latinx communities with HIV prevention, testing, care, housing, and advocacy.
Make sure to check out our Instagram post highlighting our Engaging Communities around HIV Organizing (ECHO) leaders, Violeta and DeOnyae-Dior.
Together, we can dismantle HIV stigma and build a future rooted in care, advocacy, and community power.
Best,
Mo Shora
