1) Big Blue State Electric Power Costs Almost Double Rates in Red States

The nonpartisan group, SaveOnEnergy.com just compiled the latest electricity costs across the 50 states.

High energy costs are very much like an extra tax that you pay for living in a particular state.

Notice that eight of the 10 most expensive states are in blue states and 9 of the 10 cheapest states are in red states.

On average, electricity in big blue states costs almost twice as much per kilowatt hour as in the red states.

Here's one reason: blue states tend to have strict renewable energy standards that are passed on to homeowners and businesses as higher costs.

Just another reason millions of Americans are fleeing blue states.

2) Headline of the Day
[link removed]

Oregon officials expect to spend $1.5 billion in combined state and federal taxpayer dollars on a program that offers health benefits to illegal aliens from 2025 to 2027. They expect to spend $717 million on Oregon State Police over the same period, the documents indicate.

The state's health agency, the Oregon Health Authority, said in an email to the Daily Caller News Foundation that the state expects to allocate $1.2 billion to the program -- originally named "Cover All People" and now called the "Healthier Oregon Program" (HOP). Oregon lays out budgets in two-year "bienniums."

The state officials also say they expect for the feds to pay 25% of the cost. Not if Trump and congressional Republicans don't cave to Democratic demands to add back illegals to the Medicaid rolls.

3) Homeownership Rates by Age and Decade of Birth

Here's a fascinating chart from Ryan Radia showing that homeownership by decade has reached a new all-time low - though only narrowly, as the under-25 cohort is roughly in line with where the previous group was ten years ago. That is, however, down sharply from a few decades earlier.

One way to increase the supply of housing would be to cut the capital gains tax so that older people can afford to sell their homes to younger families.

4) An Operation Warp Speed for All Killer Diseases

Our Operation Warp Speed project is a high priority at UP because it will save lives, lower health costs, and encourage billions of dollars more at-Risk private investment into new drugs and vaccines.

To quote today's New York Post article by Phillipson and Moore:

Why must American patients wait years, suffering with and even dying of potentially curable illnesses, while bureaucrats put treatments through the evidentiary wringer?

It costs $2 billion or more to bring each successful drug to market, given that about 90% of them must be abandoned during the lengthy FDA process.

The government's byzantine and unpredictable approval procedures thus divert billions of dollars of vital and scarce investment capital away from drugs that could cure cancer, heart disease, emphysema and other killer ailments.

The humane thing to do is let patients who are suffering from these diseases try promising new drugs to potentially save their lives. We think RFK Jr. and Donald Trump would be fully on board.

5) No Wonder Everything Is So Expensive in New York City

It's not just taxes, but regulations and unions add to the costs too.

New York's radical City Council added to that burden in September with a new law that doubles or triples the cost of replacing household appliances. The vote was 47 to 1, so any veto by Mayor Eric Adams will be overridden.

When a homeowner or landlord replaces a stove, dishwasher, or other large appliance, they typically purchase it from an appliance store and have a store technician, building superintendent, or contractor install it.

Under the new law, licensed "master plumbers" or someone working directly under them will be the only ones allowed to do the work. The new monopoly will add up to $500 to the cost of every installation and will either be paid by the homeowner or added to the rent.

The Plumbers Union, which uniquely benefits from this, insists it is for safety. That's laughable. Appliance hook-ups don't cause gas explosions or fires. There are only about 1,100 of these master plumbers in a city of 8 million people. They're about to get very rich.

Now it looks like you pay the union tax or install it yourself. Or you move out.
