SBE TO MEET TO DISCUSS STATE ASSESSMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will meet virtually at 9 a.m. on October 17. The SBE will discuss design elements of the state assessment and potential improvements to the state accountability system.

The board will continue its discussions on potential improvements to the state assessment, including greater alignment of informational reading passages to the topics students study within the standards at each respective grade level. Discussions will also include updating approaches for evaluating student writing.

The board will continue discussions with the Wyoming Department of Education and stakeholders regarding potential improvements to the state accountability model, making it more reflective of the skills found in the proposed graduation standards and the Profile of a Graduate. 

The board will take action on requests from Sheridan County School District #3 for updates to their teacher and leader evaluation systems.
