When Florida families needed answers, Ruth’s List alumna Representative Robin Bartleman and Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman were the ones demanding them.
A new report shows that more than 43,000 children have been dropped from Florida’s KidCare program for nonpayment of premiums- double what the DeSantis administration previously claimed. Even more troubling? Many of these children may now be uninsured.
Instead of transparency, the state’s own Medicaid Director admitted he couldn’t verify how many children have lost coverage. But Rep. Bartleman and Leader Berman aren’t letting them off the hook.
“I want to verify the number of families that are off KidCare currently,” Rep. Bartleman pressed during a legislative hearing. “I know you were asked this question and you didn’t have the data… Can you verify those numbers?”
When the administration failed again to provide answers, Leader Berman made her stance clear:
“We’ve got to do something about it. We can’t have 43,000 more children uninsured.”
These are the moments when leadership matters most- and when women like Robin Bartleman and Lori Berman prove why Ruth’s List women make a difference. They are holding the DeSantis administration’s feet to the fire, standing up for transparency, accountability, and the health of Florida’s children.
Ruth’s List is proud to have supported these champions and we’re working every day to help elect more women like them.
When women lead, families win.
