Republicans shut down the government to preserve their tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, and millions of Americans could lose health care as a result. 

At the heart of this shutdown is the GOP’s refusal to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits — the same tax credits that have made health care affordable for 24 million Americans since 2021.

If Republicans get their way, premiums will double for millions of working families. Four million Americans could lose their health insurance altogether. And small business owners, farmers, and independent workers — the backbone of our economy — will be left scrambling to pay for coverage they used to be able to afford.

This is yet another betrayal by the Trump Administration.
