Here’s the truth about where we are, John:
Going into 2025, we had a rock solid plan to lay the necessary groundwork to retake the U.S. House Majority.
We were going to spend the year replicating the playbook from last cycle that helped us flip three seats from red to blue:
📣 Hiring organizers to mobilize against the Trump Administration’s harmful policies and start talking to voters early;
📝 Blanketing community events with literature and information about how to register to vote and get involved ahead of 2026;
🏠 Opening regional offices as hubs for volunteers and activists;
We even developed a whole strategic plan for how this would come together and in what phases activations would happen.
Then, Donald Trump saw how effective our plan was and got worried. He called up his MAGA cronies in Texas and other red states to try to stack the deck for 2026 and ensure that no matter how many seats we flipped here in California, Republicans could still cling to a House Majority.
That’s why Gov. Gavin Newsom launched his Election Rigging Response Act and mission. Now, the focus has shifted to passing Proposition 50 and cancelling out Donald Trump’s efforts to rig 2026 before a single vote has been cast.
The California Democratic Party is working day and night to help pass Prop 50 this November because we know this may be our last chance to put a check on Donald Trump’s unrelenting abuses of power. But because of Donald Trump’s dirty tricks, we’ve lost time and budget that we needed to devote to flipping U.S. House seats.
When Proposition 50 passes in November, we will have an extremely truncated timeline to stand up our swing seat operations.
There were no better options. Gov. Newsom HAD to pursue Proposition 50. But this is now where we are. That’s why we need to be ready to jump into action the very second after November’s election. Will you please rush a donation to our Fight Back Fund now? [[link removed]]
